The stations featured on the California page from the John In Montana Radio and TV Station Photos Collection are in
alphabetical order.
KABC-TV: We start with KABC TV channel 7.
Some of you may remember them as KECA-TV which stood for Earle C. Anthony the pioneer Los Angeles
broadcaster. The photo is of their 4151 Prospect Avenue location as it looked
in 1973.

The FWB stood for "Four Warner Brothers" and each of the four ran the station.

the bank building at the corner of Hollywood
Boulevard and Cahuenga Boulevard which looks the same today.

slogan was used for a number of years. This ID is from 1975.

location in Los Angeles. This building is still there next to the Paramount studios and looks just
about the same except for the missing signage.

KMPC: The KMPC Radio 710 Los Angeles studio picture is from 1973 at their 5858 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles address.
I suppose some of you recall this location as
the Sunset Bowling Center which operated there for a decade. With 52 lanes it
was the largest bowling alley on the planet at the time. Were you one of the pin boys that lived in the loft?
KNBC-TV: The KNBC TV channel 4 Los Angeles studio picture is of their Burbank location as it looked in 1973. Note the
sign has the NBC snake logo of the era.
KNXT-TV: The KNXT TV channel 2 along with KNX AM and FM Los Angeles photo is of their 6121 Sunset Boulevard location
in Hollywood known as Columbia Square. Today the building looks almost the same
as it did in 1973 when this photo was taken.
There are plans for this beautiful old modern-style building to be demolished when KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV move to
their new location
being built in Studio City.
John received KNXT TV channel 2 on skip reception in 1970. Two screen captures are featured from the 960 mile DX reception from

KTTV channel 11 Los Angeles was located at 5746 Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles when this photo was taken in 1973. Then known as
Metromedia Square. Many Norman Lear TV productions were filmed at this location. For a few years
there was a bizarre steel stair step looking scuplpture atop the building. The building was demolished a few years ago and may still be a vacant lot.
The KTTV billboard from that era is pictured next. Note the MetroMedia Television logo.
The billboard promoted Metromedia Television and the 10 PM newscast was knows an "MetroNews."
