The Idaho radio and TV stations photos from the John in Montana collection are listed in alphabetical order by call letters.

KART: The KART radio 1400 studios and tower are located at 47 N 100 W in Jerome. Both the station and KART 1400 / KMVX 102.9 "Mix 103" van photos are from 2008.
KAWO: FM 104.3 in Boise started in 1979 as KIDQ. Calls were changed to KUUB, KLTB, KTMY, and in 2007 to KAWO. The "Wow Country 104.3" slogan is reflected on their colorful van as seen in 2010.

KBCI-TV: KBCI-TV Channel 2 Boise came on the air in 1953 as KBOI-TV. The call change to KBCI was in 1974. Then in 2010 they changed the call letters back to KBOI-TV (see below). This on air KBCI-TV ID is from 2008.
KBGN: KBGN Radio 1060 is located at 3303 East Chicago Street in Caldwell. The photos of the building and sign are from 2008.

Note the "Sounds of Praise" slogan on the sign. The station owned by Nelson and Karen Wilson has a Christian radio format.

KBJX: Next we have the Idaho Falls home to numerous stations including KBJX FM 106.3. Their location is 1327 East 17th Street in Idaho Falls as seen in these photos from 2007. The sign in front of the KBJX studios shows the other Pacific Empire Radio Communications statons originating from this Idaho Falls location. In addition to KBJX 106.3 there is KMGI 102.5, KGTM 98.3, KSEI 930, and KRXK 1230 none of which are licensed to Idaho Falls.
KBOI: KBOI Radio Boise started out in 1947 on 950. They changed to clear channel 670 in 1968.

Studios are located at 1419 West Bannock Street as seen in these photos from 2010.

This building is also the location for studios of KTIK Radio 1340 "The Ticket," KIZN FM 92.3 "Kissin' 92," KKGL FM 96.9 "The Eagle" licensed to Nampa, KQFC FM 97.9 "KQFC 98," and KZMG FM 93.1 "Magic 93.1" licensed to New Plymouth.

Signage on the building at 1419 West Bannock Street lists all of the Citadel stations operating from this location.

KBOI-TV: KBOI-TV Channel 2 Boise came on the air in 1953. Here's a print ad from 1969 featuring the anchor team of Holtman, Christopher, Gratton, and Eardley.

In 1974 they changed the call letters to KBCI when KBOI radio was sold. Then in 2010 they changed back to the original KBOI-TV call letters. See the information above on KBCI-TV.
Studios are located at 140 North 16th Street in a former retain space next door to a Napa Auto Parts store as seen in these photos from 2010.

KCIX: KCIX FM 105.9, "Mix 106" is licensed to Garden City. Their van was spotted in 2010 as seen in this photo.

KFTA: KFTA Radio 970 Rupert studios and towers located at 120 S 300 W as seen in this photo from 2008.

KGEM: KGEM Radio 1140 Boise came on the air in 1946.
Studios are located at 5257 West Fairview Avenue as seen in these photos from 2010. This location is also studios for KCID Radio 1490 (Caldwell) and four FMs. KRVB 94.9 (Nampa) "River," KQXR 100.3 (Payette), KJOT 105.1 "J105," and KTHI 107.1 (Caldwell).
KIDK-TV: Channel 3 Idaho Falls started out in 1953 as KID-TV. You may remember their slogan "The kid with the punch." Call letters were changed to KIDK TV in 1984 when KID radio was sold.
Studios are located at 1255 East 17th Street as seen in these photos from 2010.

KIFI-TV: KIFI TV Channel 8 was the second TV station in Idaho Falls when it came on the air in 1961. They were owned by the Post Register newspaper at that time.
Studios are located at 1915 North Yellowstone Highway as seen in the photos. One photo is from 1978 and the next two are from 2007.
They were an NBC affiliate until 1996 when they switched to ABC. The station is currently owned by the News-Press Gazette based in St. Joseph, Missouri.

KIGO: KIGO Radio 1400 is licensed to Saint Anthony, but their transmitter and tower are located south of Rigby on the Ririe Highway as seen in this photo from 2010.
KLIX: The KLIX Radio 1310 Twin Falls studios are located at 415 Park Avenue as seen in these photos from 2008.

The sign in front of the building shows the two FM stations also located there, KLIX-FM 95.7 and KEZJ-FM 96.5.

KMHI: The KMHI studios, transmitter, and tower are located at 1795 Canyon Creek Road in Mountain Home as seen in these photos from 2010.
1240 Mountain Home started out in 1983 as KJCY. Calls were changed to KLVJ in 1989, and then in 1997 to KMHI.

KMVT-TV: KMVT TV Channel 11 Twin Falls started out as KLIX-TV in 1955. Studios are located at 1100 Blue Lakes Boulevard North as seen in these photos from 2008.

The sign in front of the KMVT building proudly states "A Neuhoff Broadcast Group Station."

KNIN-TV: Channel 9 Caldwell came on the air in 1992 as KHDT-TV and in 1996 they changed to KNIN. The on air ID is from 2010.

KPVI-TV: KPVI TV Channel 6 Pocatello came on the air in 1974 as an ABC affiliate. The original downtown location is pictued in this photo from 1978.
In the mid 1990's they became an NBC affiliate and moved to their new studios at 902 East Sherman Street as seen in these photos from 2010.

This location is also studios for KFXP Channel 31 the Fox affiliate for Pocatello.
KFXP came on the air in 1999.
Signage reflects both KPVI Channel 6 NBC and KFXP Channel 31 Fox.


KQXR: KQXR Payette started in 1979. They are part of the Journal Broadcast Group in Boise.

Their van was spotted in 2010.

KRXK: KRXK Radio 1230 Rexburg is currently owned by Pacific Empire Radio Corporation and airs a sports format from Pocatello studios.
Former studios, now just the transmitter, along with their tower are located along West Moran View Road in Rexburg as seen in these photos from 2010.

KSAS: KSAS FM 103.3 Caldwell came on the air in 1982. "Kiss FM" broadcasts to the Boise market with studios at 827 East Park Boulevard.

Two of their vehicles are shown in these photos from 2010.


KSEI: KSEI Radio 930 Pocatello has been on the air since 1926. They were NBC Radio for quite a few years, now they broadcast a sports format.
Studios are located at 544 North Arthur Avenue. The first photo shows how the building looked in 1978. It looks like they hired a gardner to cut down that bush covering their sign as seen in the photos from 2010.
In addition to KSEI 930, studios for KRXK Radio 1230 Rexburg (see above), KGTM FM 98.1 "Good Times Music" (Rexburg), KMGI FM 102.5 "Classic Rock" (Pocatello), and KBJX FM 106.3 "Hot 106.3" (Shelley) are located in this building at 544 North Arthur Avenue.

KTFI: KTFI Radio 1270 Twin Falls came on the air in 1928.

The KTFI Radio 1270 studios are located a short distance from Twin Falls at 21361 Highway 30 as seen in these photos from 2008.


The sign in front of the building favors the FM, KIKX 104.9 which is actually licensed to Ketchum.
Their slogan is "104.7 BOB-FM."


In 2010 the call letters were changed to KPDA with a regional Mexican format.

"La Poderosa" slogan.


KTHI: KTHI Radio 107.1 Caldwell came on the air in 1983. "107.1 K-Hits" broadcasts to the Boise market. This van photo is from 2010.

KTIK: KTIK Radio 1350 Boise, "The Ticket" broadcasts a sports format. They are part of the Citadel group. This truck photo is from 2010.
KTVB: Channel 7 Boise came on the air in 1953 as KIDO-TV and famed television pioneer Philo Farnsworth was there when they signed on the air. They have always been affiliated with NBC.

The call letters were changed to KTVB in 1959.

The KTVB "Night Beat" print ad is from 1964. James Bischoff, Bill Harvey, and Armond Noble are featured.

The News At Ten open included the ID.

KUPI: KUPI Radio 980 and KUPI-FM 99.1 studios are located at 854 Lindsay Boulevard in Idaho Falls. Pronounced "kew-pee" they are part of the Simmons Media Group.
Also located at this facility is KQEO FM Arrow 107.1 and KSNA FM Sunny 94.3.
The sign next to the station is very impressive looking more like a commercial gas staion or fast food outlet attracting attention.
Here is a closer look at that KUPI 99 van. The Idaho license plate says KUPI 99.

There is a sign on the side of the KUPI building for Arrow 107.1 and Sunny 94.3.

KVNI: KVNI Radio 1080 Coeur d'Alene is located in the KXLY North Idaho Broadcast Center located at 504 Sherman. While most of the operation is in Spokane, Washington, KXLY operates this bureau in Coeur d'Alene. This photo is from 2005.
KWAL: KWAL Radio 620 Wallace has the I-90 highway running right between their towers in Osburn, Idaho. This photo from 2005 was taken while driving I-90. Historians may remember this was the last part of I-90 to be finished. Until then you actually had to stop on I-90 at the only stop light in Wallace.
KWIK: KWIK Radio 1240 Pocatello came on the air in 1946. Studios are located at 259 East Center Street as seen in these photos.
One photo is from 1978 and the other from 2010. Sometime between 1978 and 2010 the signage above the building was removed.

Owned by Townsquare Media, this location is also studios for KID 590 (Idaho Falls), KID FM 96.1 "The Bull," (Idaho Falls), KEGE FM 92.1, KLLP FM 98.5 "Star 98.5," and KPKY FM 94.9 "94.9 The Rock." as noted by the logos on the entrance to the building.

KXLT: KXLT FM 107.9 is licensed to Eagle and serves the Boise market as "The New 107.9 Lite FM." The van photo is from 2010.

KXTF-TV: KXTF TV Channel 35 Twin Falls came on the air in 1989. Studios are located at 1061 Blue Lakes Boulevard North as seen in this photo from 2008. They are a Fox affiliate.
KZBQ: KZBQ FM 93.7 was Pocatello's first FM station.
