The Idaho radio and TV stations photos from the John in Montana collection are listed in alphabetical order by call letters.

KART: The KART radio 1400 studios and tower are located at 47 N 100 W in Jerome. Both the station and KART 1400 / KMVX 102.9 "Mix 103" van photos are from 2008.

KBCI-TV: KBCI-TV Channel 2 Boise came on the air in 1953 as KBOI-TV. The call change to KBCI was in 1974. The change was slight, O to C. Perhaps the main reason for this easy change was to easily convert the O in their 12 foot metal lettering signage.
This on air ID is from 2008.
KBGN: KBGN Radio 1060 is located at 3303 East Chicago Street in Caldwell. The photos of the building and sign are from 2008.
Note the "Sounds of Praise" slogan on the sign. The station owned by Nelson and Karen Wilson has a Christian radio format.

KBJX: Next we have the Idaho Falls home to numerous stations including KBJX FM 106.3. Their location is 1327 East 17th Street in Idaho Falls. The station photo is from 2007.
The sign in front of the KBJX studios shows the other Pacific Empire Radio Communications statons originating from this Idaho Falls location. In addition to KBJX 106.3 there is KMGI 102.5, KGTM 98.3, KSEI 930, and KRXK 1230 none of which are licensed to Idaho Falls.

KBOI-TV: KBOI-TV Channel 2 Boise came on the air in 1953. The call change to KBCI was in 1974. See the information above on KBCI-TV. Here's a KBOI-TV print ad from 1969 featuring the anchor team of Holtman, Christopher, Gratton, and Edrdley.
KFTA: Next we go to Rupert for the photo of the KFTA 970 studios and towers located at 120 S 300 W as they looked in 2008.

KIDK-TV: KIDK TV channel 3 Idaho Falls, the CBS affiliate for the area, is located at 1255 East 17th Street. This photo of their station is from 2007. You may remember their call letters were KID-TV. "The kid with the punch."

KIFI-TV: The two photos of KIFI TV Channel 8 Idaho Falls shows the station and sign as it looked in 1978 and in 2007. KIFI TV was the second TV station in Idaho Falls when it came on the air in 1961. Then owned by the Post Register newspaper. They were an NBC affiliate until 1996 when they switched to become an ABC affiliate. The station is located at 1915 North Yellowstone Highway and is currently owned by the News-Press Gazette based in St. Joseph, Missouri.

KLIX: Heading to Twin Falls we find KLIX Radio 1310. Their station at 415 Park Avenue is featured in this 2008 photo.
The sign in front of the building shows the two other FM stations located there, KLIX-FM 95.7 and KEZJ-FM 96.5.

The KLIX 1310 tower is located behind the station at 415 Park Avenue. The photo from 2008 was taken from a housing developement next to the station. We're seeing more and more urban developent closer to towers these days.

KMVT-TV: KMVT TV Channel 11 Twin Falls started out as KLIX-TV in 1955. This photo from 2008 shows their studios at 1100 Blue Lakes Boulevard North
The sign in front of the KMVT building proudly states "A Neuhoff Broadcast Group Station" as seen in this photo from 2008.

KPVI-TV: The KPVI TV Channel 6 Pocatello station photo is from 1978. They had only been on the air 4 years at that time. The station has since moved out of this old downtown building. They were an ABC affiliate when this photo was taken. They were in this location until the mid 1990's. The station is now an NBC affiliate. The call letters stand for Pocatello 6 ("VI").

KSEI: The KSEI Radio 930 Pocatello station photo is from 1978. It looks like they needed to hire a gardner as most of the sign is covered.

KTFI: The KTFI Radio 1270 station photo is from 2008. The station is located a short distance from Twin Falls at 21361 Highway 30.

KTVB: Channel 7 Boise came on the air in 1953 as KIDO-TV. The call change to KTVB was in 1959.

The KTVB "Night Beat" print ad is from 1964. James Bischoff, Bill Harvey, and Armond Noble are pictured.

The on air ID is from 2008.
KUPI: KUPI Radio 980 and KUPI-FM 99.1 studios are located at 854 Lindsay Boulevard in Idaho Falls. Pronounced "kew-pee" they are part of the Simmons Media Group.
Also located at this facility is KQEO FM Arrow 107.1 and KSNA FM Sunny 94.3.
The sign next to the station is very impressive looking more like a commercial gas staion or fast food outlet attracting attention.

KVNI: KVNI Radio 1080 Coeur d'Alene is located in the KXLY North Idaho Broadcast Center located at 504 Sherman. While most of the operation is in Spokane, Washington, KXLY operates this bureau in Coeur d'Alene. This photo is from 2005.
KWAL: KWAL Radio 620 Wallace has the I-90 highway running right between their towers in Osburn, Idaho. This photo from 2005 was taken while driving I-90. Historians may remember this was the last part of I-90 to be finished. Until then you actually had to stop on I-90 at the only stop light in Wallace.
KWIK: The KWIK Radio 1240 Pocatello station photo is from 1978.
Next we have a KWIK billboard from 1978.

KXTF-TV: We end in Twin Falls with the 2008 photo of KXTF TV channel 35, the Fox station there. The station is located at 1061 Blue Lakes Boulevard North.
