The stations featured on the Kansas page from the John In Montana Radio and TV Station Photos Collection are listed in alphabetical order by call letters.
KAKE-TV: We start with the KAKE TV channel 10 Wichita station photo from 1986. KAKE TV was and still is the ABC affiliate for Wichita. Channel 10 came on the air October 19, 1954. However, they started out as the NBC affiliate their first year. The call letters are pronounced "cake" and the station is still located at 1500 North West Street in Wichita.
KARD-TV: The on air ID for KARD TV channel 3 Wichita is from John's skip reception from Sheridan, Wyoming in 1971. The DX was 700 miles. The station is now KSNW-TV.
KAYS-TV: The photo of the KAYS TV channel 7 Hays station is from 1986. They came on the air in 1958 as KAYS-TV. In 1989 they switched to KBSH-TV as part of the Kansas Broadcasting System headquarted in Wichita at KWCH-TV there.
KBSL-TV: KBSL-TV channel 10 in Goodland is also part of the Kansas Broadcasting System. They started out as KLOE-TV in 1959. Their location is in the "Broadcast Plaza" at 3023 W 31st Street in Goodland.
The sign at the entrance has mini-signs for each of the stations at 3023 West 31st Street including KLOE Radio 730, KKCI FM 102.5, and KWGB FM 97.9.
KNNN: The KNNN Radio 550 Salina station photo is from 1986. The station is now KFRM. The KNNN call letters are now on an FM in Shasta Lake, California.
KPTS-TV: KPTS TV channel 8 Wichita is the PBS station for the market. The 1986 photo shows their studios at the time. They first came on the air in 1970.
KRZZ: The KRZZ FM 96.3 Wichita station photo is from 1986.
KSAS-TV: KSAS-TV channel 24 Wichita is featured next. KSAS-TV is now known as Fox Kansas. The call letters are from KanSAS. The station came on the air in 1985, less than a year before this photo was taken in 1986. The station has since moved to their downtown location.
KSNW-TV: KSNW TV channel 3 Wichita started out in 1955 as KARD-TV, the third station in Wichita which made Wichita one of the smallest cities in the country with three network affiliated stations. The call letters were changed in 1982 and stand for Kansas State Network News. Historians may know the KARD-TV call letters ended up in Monroe, Louisiana. The station photo from 1986 is of their 833 North Main Street location.

KWCH-TV: The KWCH TV channel 12 Wichita station photo of their 2815 East 37th Street North location is from 1986. The call letters are from WiCHita. They were KTVH from 1953 until 1954.
KXXX: Heading to Colby we find large cement K X X X letters in front of KXXX Radio 790. This photo is from 1986.
