The New Mexico radio and TV stations photos from the John in Montana collection are listed in alphabetical order by call letters.
KABQ: Clear Channel stations in Albuquerque are located in this building at 5411 Jefferson Street NE as seen in these photos from
2009. Their stations include KABQ 1350 AM, "Progressive Talk" and FM stations KZRR "94 Rock"
94.1; KSYU "The All New 95.1" 95.1; KPEK "The Peak" 100.3;
KABQ "Classic Country" 104.1; KTEG "The Edge" 104.7; and KBQI "Big 107.9" 107.9.
The van photos are from 2009. Pictured are vans for KSYU, KTEG, KBQI, and finally KPEK.
KALY: 1240 is licensed to Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. Coming on the air in 1981 as KLTN, they changed to KALY in 1988.
The station had been located at 2505 6th Street NW for a number of years. The building is now for sale as seen in this photo from 2009.
The station moved to the Comanche Business Park a few years ago.
They are located in Unit C6 at 2420 Comanche Road NE in Albuquerque as seen in this photo from 2009.
The next photo from 2009 shows John at the main studio audio board at Radio Disney.
The Promotion Manager's office is filled with numerous Disney collectables and posters.
Here's Radio Disney Promotion Manager Nikki Courtney. Nikki has been in broadcasting for a number of years including being a DJ at KFMK
Houston and WMAK Nashville.

KANW: KANW FM 89.1 in Albuquerque was started in 1951. It is the oldest FM radio station in New Mexico.
KANW is operated by the Albuquerque Public Schools and is used to broadcast educational programs, but mostly has a music format based on
New Mexico Spanish artists.
KASA-TV: KASA TV is licensed to Santa Fe, however the studios are located in Albuquerque. KASA is located in the KRQE building which
can see seen below under KRQE. This station started out as KGSW channel 14 in 1981. Then moved to channel 2 in 1983 as KSAF. In 1985 they became
KNMZ-TV, in 1989 they were KKTO-TV and then in 1993 they changed to the current call letters, KASA-TV. This station has been dark a few times and this
is just a brief history. Channel 2 is now on digital channel 27. The two screen shots of 2-1 are from 2009.
KCQL: KCQL Radio 1340 licensed to Aztec, New Mexico has studios in Farmington as part of the Clear Channel Communications
operation located there. The transmitter and tower in Aztec are located on Llano Street at the end of Navajo Avenue near Hartman Park as
seen in this photo from 2009.
KDAZ: KDAZ Radio 730 in Albuquerque came on the air in 1971. Known as Z-73, they are a Christian station. The transmitter and
tower are located east of Coors Boulevard SW and south of Gun Club Road SW in southwest Albuquerque as seen in this 2009 photo.
KENN: The studios for radio stations KENN 1390; KRWN "Crown" 92.9; and KISZ-FM "Kiss Country" 97.9
(licensed to Cortez, Colorado) are located at 212 West Apache Street in Farmington.
The sign has KENN on one side and KRWN on the other as seen in these photos from 2009.
KGAK: KGAK Radio 1330 Gallup, New Mexico has a news and talk format and airs programming from the CBS Radio network.
Studios are located at 401 East Coal Avenue as seen in these 2009 photos.
KGLX-FM: The Clear Channel Communications stations located in Gallup, New Mexico include KGLX FM 99.1; KXTC FM 99.9; and
KFMQ 106.1.
Studios are located at 1632 South 2nd Street in Gallup as seen in these photos from 2009.
KIVA: The KIVA Radio 1550 Albuquerque, New Mexico tower and transmitter are located on Los Ranchos Road NW just west of 2nd Street NW
as seen in this photo from 2009. The tower is also used by KKIM 1000.
KKIM: KKIM Radio 1000 Albuquerque shares a tower with KIVA. The studios are located at 4125 Carlisle Boulevard NE as
seen in the next two photos from 2009.
This building houses studios for KKIM 1000 along with KKIM-FM 94.7 (Licensed to Santa Fe); KABG "Big Classic Hits 98.5" FM (Licensed to Los Alamos);
KDLW "OMG 97.7" (licensed to Belen); KHFM "Classical 95.5 and 102.9" FM; KLVO "Lobo 106.7" licensed to Los Alamos); and KAGM "Power 106.3" (Licensed
to Los Lunas).

KKOB: Citadel Broadcasting Corporation in Albuquerque, New Mexico is located in this building at 500 4th Street NW as seen in this
photo from 2009.
Studios for KKOB 770; KNML 610; KTBL 1050; KRST FM 92.3; KKOB-FM 93.3; KMGA FM 99.5; and KDRF 103.3 are all on the 5th floor.
The photo of the sign in front of the building is also from 2009.
KOB Radio 770 started out as 5XD in 1919 at the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts by Ralph Willis Goddard.
On April 5, 1922 the station started broadcasting as KOB. This station has a rich history which can be found elsewhere online.
KOB became KKOB in 1986. The entrance to the main KKOB control room displays the KOB call letters. The next photo from 2009
shows the main control room.
The KKOB interview studio is pictured next.
Equipment racks hold various pieces of broadcast equipment used by all 7 stations.
Note all of the cabeling at the back of these racks.
The KKOB FM 93.3 "The Pop Music Channel" control room photo is also

The KKOB Radio 770 Albuquerque transmitter and tower site is located on 2nd Street NW not too far from the Balloon Fiesta Park.

KLYT: KLYT M88 Radio in Albuquerque on FM 88.3 has a Contemporary Christian format.
This photo from 2009
shows the KLYT remote location at the New Mexico State Fair.
KMGA: KMGA Radio FM 99.5 Albuquerque has studios in the Citadel building along with KKOB as noted above.
This photo from 2009 is of their control room.
KMIN: KMIN Radio 980 Grants, New Mexico came on the air in 1956 as Grants first station. The station has a rich history of ownership
and broadcast formats. FM 92.7 came on the air in 1994 as KAIU and changed to KDSK in 2001.
The studios for KMIN 980 and KDSK FM 92.7 are located at 733 East Rososevelt Avenue as seen in these photos from 2009.
The stations are owned by KD Radio, Inc. President and CEO Derek Underhill is pictured in this photo from 2009 taken in the main
KMIN control room.
The next photo, also from 2009, was taken in the main control room for KDSK-FM. If you get a chance to stop into the station, ask
Derek to tell you the history behind that microphone above the audio
board. It has a broadcast history of its own.

The station is also a museum for a lot of older broadcast technology. The next photo shows just one corner of a room filled with
equipment from the past including an old automation system once used by KMIN.

Next we have an older van still in use today by KMIN.
KMIN started out in this building at the transmitter site which is located just south of I-40 near Ice Cave Road. Quite a few pieces of old
equipment were stored at the trnamitter building which today is on display at the KMIN studios as seen above.

KNAT TV: KNAT TV Channel 23 Albuquerque, New Mexico came on the air in 1975 as KMXN-TV. In 1980 they changed to KLKK-TV, and then to KNAT in 1982.
The studios
are located at 1510 Coors Boulevard NW as seen in these photos from 2009.
KNAT-TV programs a religious format from TBN and is owned by the Trinity Broadcasting Network.
KNDN: KNDN Radio 960 Farmington tower as seen in 2009. This tower is located just south of West Main Street near
West Murray Drive.
KNML: KNML Radio 610 Albuquerque towers as seen in 2009. These towers are located near 2nd Street SW just north of Rio Bravo
Boulevard SW along Rossmoor Road SW.
KOAT-TV: KOAT TV Channel 7 came on the air September 28, 1953. Now on digital channel 21. Owned by Hearst Television, they are an ABC
affiliate.
The station is located at 3801 Carlisle Boulevard, NE in Albuquerque as seen in these photos from 2009.
Various satellite dishes are located at the corner of Carlisle Boulevard NE and Comanche Road NE as seen in the photo from 2009.
Numerous look-alike news vehicles display the "Action 7 News" and "News Coverage You Can Count On" branding.
KOAT's Sky 7 helicopter is used to cover a wide area of New Mexico.
The station has used "Sky 7" since 1980. It should be noted, more than one chopper
has been used over the years. These photos are of the model used in 2009.

KOB-TV: KOB-TV channel 4 Albuquerque, New Mexico came on the air November 29, 1948 as the first television station in New Mexico.
Owned by Hubbard Broadcasting Corporation, they now operate on digital channel 26.
Studios are located at 4 Broadcast Plaza SW in Albuquerque which is near Iron Avenue SW and 15th Street SW north of the Rio Grande
Zoological Park. The photos are from 2009.
The next photo, also from 2009, is of a KOB-TV satellite truck.
Next we have a screen shot from 2009 of the "Eyewitness News 4 at 10:00" news open.
The on air ID from 2009 displays KOB-TV channel 4 along with satellite stations KOBG Channel 6 in Silver City; KOBR Channel 8 in Roswell;
and KOBF Channel 12 in Farmington.
KOBF-TV: The photo of the KOBF-TV Channel 12 Farmington, New Mexico billboard is from 2009.
KOBF came on the air in 1972 as KIVA-TV. The stations' news broadcasts come from KOB-TV Albuquerque.
KOBF-TV Channel 12 Farmington, New Mexico studios are located at 825 West Broadway Street as seen in these photos from 2009.
KPCL: KPCL Radio 95.7 Farmington broadcasts a Christian music format. Their slogan is "Passion Radio."
The station has studios at 1105 West Apache Street in Farmington as seen in these photos from 2009.
KLJH 107.1 and KTGW 91.7 are also located in this building as noted on the sign.
KRKE: KRKE Radio 1600 shares studios with KIVA Radio 1550 at 1213 San Pedro Drive, NE in Albuquerque as seen in this photo from 2009.
Their tower is located between I-25 and Broadway Boulevard SE south of Gibson Boulevard SE. This tower is shared with KXKS 1190. The photo is from 2009.
KRQE-TV: Channel 13 Albuquerque came on the air in 1953 as KGGM-TV. The call letter change to KRQE-TV took place in 1991
when the station was sold to Lee Enterprises. The station has had various owners over the years and is currently owned by LIN.
Studios are located at 3 Broadcast Plaza SW just next door to KOB-TV. These photos are from 2009.
KASA TV Channel 2 is also located in this building.

The next three on air screen shots are from 2009. The first shows the news
set at the open of a news broadcast.
The two on air ID's dislpay KRQE Channel 13 as well as satellite stations KBIM-TV Channel 10 Roswell, New Mexico and KREZ-TV Channel 6 in Durango,
Colorado.
News anchor Dianne Anderson is featured on one ID and weatherman Mark Ronchetti is seen on the other ID
KRST: KRST FM 92.3 "KRST Country" in Albuquerque started broadcasting in 1965.
The station is owned by Citadel
Broadcasting with studios in their downtown building.
The studios' on air sign is quite unique as seen in this photo from 2009. The
10 AM to 3 PM DJ, Juan Velasco is pictured in the KRST control room.
KRST's huge banner is easy to see when you are at the New Mexico State Fair.
The KRST remote setup at the New Mexico State Fair allows
live broadcasts be be conducted during the fair. These photos are from 2009.
In addition to the RV studios set up for the fair, a tent is manned to greet fair visitors.

KRZE: KRZE Radio 1280 Framington, New Mexico is known as K-Viva and offers a regional Mexican format for the Four Corners
area.
Studios are located along with other Clear Channel stations at 200 East Broadway Street as seen in these photos from 2009.
Along with KRZE 1280, studios for KCQL 1340 (Aztec, NM); KDAG "Big Dog" FM 96.9; KTRA "#1 Country" FM 102.1; KAZX "Star" FM 102.9;
and KOOL "Great Oldies" FM 104.5 are in this building.
Signs for the various stations are located around the edge of
the roof. KRZE Radio 1280, K-Viva" has a sperate entrance at 204 East Broadway.
KRZY: KRZY FM 105.9 is licensed to Santa Fe, but covers the Albuquerque market.
Known as "Jose," their format is Radio Romantica.
These photos from 2009 are of their tent remote at the New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque and the Jose 105.9 van.
KSVA: KSVA Radio 920 Albuquerque broadcasts a Christian music and Bible teaching format as part of the Lifetalk Radio network.
Their transmitter and tower are located west of I-25 and south of Montano Road NE along Montbel Road NE as seen in this photo from 2009.
KSWV: 810 Santa Fe went on the air in 1987 as KMIK. They changed to KSWV in 1991.
The KSWV studios are located at 102 Taos Street in Santa Fe as seen in these photos from 2009.

KTBL: KTBL Radio 1050 Albuquerque has studios along with other Citadel Broadcasting stations.
The station is licensed to Los Ranchos de Albuqerque and has a news and talk format along with syndicated programming such as The Glenn Beck program.
KVSF: KVSF Radio 1400 in Santa Fe is owned by Hutton Broadcasting and has studios in this building at 2503 Camino Entrada
as seen in 2009.
The building also has the studios for KTRC 1260; KBAC FM 98.1 (Las Vegas, NM); and KQBA 107.5 (Los Alamos, NM).
The tower for KVSF 1400 and KTRC 1260 is located on West Alameda Street as seen in this photo from 2009.
KWBQ: KWBQ TV Channel 19 is a CW affiliate with studios at 8341 Washington Street NE which is also the studios for
KASY TV Channel 50 (Digital 45) which is an affiliate of My Network TV.
The photos of the station are from 2009.
KYVA: KYVA Radio 1320 has studios at 300 West Aztec Avenue in Gallup, New Mexico along with KYVA-FM 103.7; KXXI FM 93.7; and
KKOR FM 94.5.
The studios are located on the 2nd story with a Wells Fargo Bank at ground level.
Their van is branded with all their station's logos.
