Wisconsin Radio and TV Stations from the John in Montana Collection
The Wisconsin radio and TV stations photos from the John in Montana collection are listed in alphabetical order by call letters.
WBAY-TV: John received WBAY-TV Channel 2 Green Bay on skip reception from Sheridan, Wyoming. The on air ID photo
of this 927 mile DX is from 1969.
WEAU-TV: WEAU-TV Channel 13 Eau Claire came on the air in 1953. John's very first exposure to TV was in 1953 watching WEAU-TV
while visiting his aunt and uncle as a young child. Their cafe, "The Roost," was located in front of the TV station which was located at 1907 South Hastings Way.
Their tower was replaced in 1956 with a 1,000 foot tower. While WEAU-TV Channel 13 operates from a 2,000 foot tower in Fairchild, the 1,000 foot
tower is used for WQOW-TV Channel 18. The 1000 foot tower can be seen for many miles around. A very impressive landmark. The photo of the station is from 1990.
Here's the very first tower photo taken by John. WEAU's towers behind The Roost as seen in 1957:
